Anita Weiss, head of the UO international studies department, was interviewed on The News Hour with Jim Lehrer, in a discussion about the impact of Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari's move to impose Islamic law in the Swat Valley.
Weiss, who has has written extensively about Pakistan and most recently visited the country in November, was interviewed along with a former CIA station chief in Islamabad. They discussed the imposition of Islamic law as part of a deal to end two years of fighting with pro-Taliban militants in the Swat Valley region.
