Fun In Livingston: Games That Boost Your Brain Power
Posted by: ask on Thursday, January 03, 2008 - 12:55 PM
We're hearing a lot these days about how games can be beneficial to baby boomers in boosting their memory. As this huge chunk of our population ages, it's very important that we maintain our mental fitness as well as our physical fitness. Why? Well, if you don't use it you lose it is a particularly apt old but true saying. Many boomers will be working well into their 70's (God willing) and in order to do that they have to maintain their intellectual health, even when the physical gives way to age related maladies, our minds can remain sharp and useful if we exercise them regularly.
One way to avert memory loss and loss of other cognitive functions is to stimulate the mind with challenging games and puzzles. There are special services popping up all over the place claiming to specialize in increasing brainpower through the use of "mental exercises" which in many cases is much like a game. I would much rather play a game and exercise my brain than do "mental exercises" which actually achieve the same results.

Welcome to the 'MySpace' of Livingston County
Posted by: jmb59 on Thursday, December 13, 2007 - 02:39 PM
In redesigning Ask Livingston, we did major search engine research. We found that there there were a great deal of web sites, most dealing with; genealogy, township information, local government, and lots of 'cookie cutter' variety web sites created by people who do not even live in Livingston County. All seem to lack one thing; a personality. When we first started Ask Livingston we wanted it to be a place where people from all over Livingston County could meet, share ideas, post free classifieds, and develop friendships both online and in person.
As I look around I've noticed that people are less likely to help others as much as they did the past.
