Assistant Dean, Budget and Finance
Sherri Nelson has been the Assistant Dean for Budget and Finance since 2015 and has played key roles in several university-wide projects, as well.
As assistant dean, she is the principal fiscal officer for the College. This includes coordinating development, implementation and management of the annual budget process. She also manages ongoing business and financial transactions. Nelson serves as a liaison between the dean and the divisional deans, directors and managers, and the university Budget and Resource Planning office, Business Affairs, Human Resources, the Graduate School and the University of Oregon Foundation.
Nelson helped implement the campus-wide copier fleet project, and helped shape the UO budget allocation and information technology resources working groups.
She joined the UO in 1999 as an accounting technician in the Oregon Consortium for International and Area Studies, and later served as the fiscal coordinator in the CAS dean’s office. Previously, she was a budget specialist who focused on grants at the University of Idaho; she also helped run an auto dealership that she and her husband owned.
Nelson received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Nevada, Reno. She is a licensed certified public accountant. She and her husband have two adult children, and in her free time she enjoys taking in Oregon’s outdoors and traveling with family and friends.
