The Global Studies Master’s program at the University of Oregon is tailored to meet the unique professional interests of each student. In close consultation with a faculty advisor, the student develops a program that combines expertise in a specific professional concentration area with interdisciplinary training in global studies. Faculty provide the academic and real-life knowledge of Africa, South and Southeast Asia, Latin America, and other geographic regions and global processes and can guide graduate students on their academic and professional paths. Students appreciate the opportunity to enter a program cohort with other students with global experience, a cohort that will serve as a professional and support network even beyond the MA program. Our students tailor their coursework, thesis research, and/or project development based on their own unique interests, and in consultation with their faculty advisor. Graduates of our program have gone on to successful careers in international development, foreign service, international education, human rights, international non-profit and INGO work, and policy advocacy across a variety of fields, from sustainable development to global health, indigenous sovereignty to conflict resolution.
