The petitioning process is used in unique situations where students need to request an exception to a university policy or procedure. University of Oregon has several petition processes and committees, and the one you should pursue depends on the type and timing of your request. The four main petition types are:
Scholastic Review Committee (SRC) petitions
Advising Appointment required to receive petition for:
- Academic reinstatement after being disqualified
- Cancellation of academic disqualification
- Withdrawing or changing grade option for course(s) in a previous term
These appointments must be scheduled through the front desk.
Office of the Registrar petitions
Students are encouraged to meet with an advisor before petitioning to review the process and degree implications. The following petitions are accessible online:
- Tuition refund
- Repeating a course
- Late add/withdraw from a course in the current term (weeks 1-10)
- Time conflict between courses
Academic Requirements Committee (ARC) petitions

The ARC reviews petitions for exceptions to University degree requirements such as core-education requirements. These are most appropriate for seniors (sometimes juniors).
Departmental petitions
Processes vary by department. Check in with an advisor first about navigating the process.
