Attention UO undergraduates! 📢 Are you looking for a paid internship in 2027?

The Division of Equity and Inclusion is now accepting applications for the for the winter-spring 2027 Leadership Enrichment Internship (LEI)!

This 16-week paid internship is designed for undergraduate students from diverse backgrounds and academic disciplines, offering a $3,000 stipend per intern. We have 12 internship openings in various industries and formats—in-person and hybrid! Semester at Sea is a multi-country, full semester study abroad experience based on a ship. This study abroad experience is open to any major and focuses on a cross-cultural experience, visiting three to four different continents and 10+ countries. Are you interested in using R and RStudio but not sure where to begin? This eight-session workshop series will introduce the fundamentals of working with R. It’s designed for absolute beginners or anyone who wants to review the basics.

BizCareers in Finance and Real Estate is a unique recruiting event facilitated by the Lundquist College of Business, not a career fair, but focused industry hiring and insights. If you are ready to apply and land your summer internship or post-grad role—or to make an impression and learn what it will take in the following year—be sure to attend!

This is a recruiting event. Use this as a chance to explore how your interests align with each company's roles, culture, and career paths. Come prepared with research on each company, an updated resume, and clear talking points about your interests and skills. Attend a preparatory session, meet with an advisor, or visit drop-in advising in Lillis 155.

Attending companies are limited to 8 to 10 who are actively hiring for internships or college grad roles for the 2026–2027 cycle. Many companies are offering multiple openings or cohort-style hiring, meaning strong chances for placement. Round robin format rotations through up to 8 sessions with small groups of 20 to 25 students will allow for focused time with hiring teams. Each session may also include an informative talk, meet and greet, or question and answer session depending on the company.

Be sure to attend the follow-up opportunity the next morning (October 16) at BizCareers Breakfast, an open networking session from 9:00–10:00 a.m. in the atrium of the Lillis Business Complex to continue building relationships with recruiters from the event. Demonstrate your interest, commitment, and initiative!

OUTLINE OF TOUR:

Meet at Ford Alumni Center Lobby (near Matt Knight Arena Duck Statue) NO LATER THAN 9am. We'll walk over to the bus stop (Agate) to catch the EmX to downtown Eugene. All our sites are within walking distance of one another, so be prepared to get some exercise. While at the stops, you'll get an opportunity to tour their facilities as well as meet with leaders in the field. At 1pm we'll be done with the tour and you can stick around downtown to keep exploring and grab lunch OR a group will be getting on the bus to head back to campus you can join.

Are we measuring what actually matters, or just what’s easy to count?

Join Data Services for a sharp, no-nonsense discussion of Jerry Z. Muller’s The Tyranny of Metrics. We’re taking a hard look at "metric fixation", the dangerous belief that everything can and should be quantified.

From higher education to healthcare to corporate management, Muller argues that our obsession with performance indicators, dashboards, and standardized data is actively making our institutions worse. Instead of improving efficiency, it encourages people to game the system rather than do their actual jobs.

What’s on the table:

• The Trap of Quantification: Why throwing data at a problem often creates a worse one.
• The Reality Check: A skeptical look at when metrics actually work, and when they fail spectacularly.
• The Discussion: Bring your frustrations, your insights, and your critiques. Expect an honest, unfiltered conversation about the very real limits of data-driven decision-making.
