How to Find Financial Support

The University of Oregon and the College of Arts and Sciences offer various scholarships to make your college experience more affordable. Scholarships available include donor-supported scholarships and fellowships, inclusion scholarships for underrepresented communities, departmental scholarships and first-year scholarships.

CAS undergraduate students have opportunities to apply what they're learning in the classroom into real-world experiences. It's what makes our liberal arts education experience different. Internships, research positions, community service can provide invaluable direction for students, but these may also have financial barriers. CAS offers scholarships to make these experiences more accessible for our students.

Valerie Owusu-Hienno
Neuroscience, ’26

Valerie Owusu-Hienno aspires to be a physician, researcher, and global health advocate. During her time as a CAS and Clark Honors College student, she has been named a Goldwater Scholar—a nationally prestigious award for undergraduates conducting research in the natural sciences, engineering, and mathematics—and UO Presidential Scholar. But what has helped her achieve accomplishments and work toward her dream goals is a liberal arts education.

"Studying liberal arts alongside my STEM degree enables me to understand both the physiological mechanisms behind biological processes and the social, historical, and political contexts that influence disease patterns."

Oliver Twitchell,
Theatre Arts ’26

Oliver Twitchell class of ’26 is majoring in theatre arts and has worked in the Costume Shop, creating costumes for University Theatre productions.

“I’ve benefitted from taking a course load that spans the liberal arts, including mathematics, sciences and humanities. Each discipline has deepened my understanding of costume design in unique ways. Science and math have strengthened my problem-solving and structural thinking—skills crucial when managing budgets, materials, or the physics of movement and fabric. Humanities and social sciences, meanwhile, have helped me interpret the political, historical, and cultural contexts that shape every story told on stage.

"A well-designed costume isn’t just clothing—it’s a visual union of history, psychology, and symbolism.”
