Lori Olsen served the Psychology Department, first as Undergraduate Secretary and then as Graduate Secretary and Grad Coordinator, from 1985 to 2026. She won the inaugural Excellence Award for Grad Coordinators from the Graduate School in 2011 and won the UO Outstanding Employee Award in 2025. To the graduate students, faculty members, and her staff colleagues in Psychology and beyond, she was a treasure, deeply respected for her depth of knowledge and dedication to the graduate students and the department generally, admired for her work ethic and her proactive approach to problems, and known for her legendary kindness to all. She loved us, and we loved her back. As one former graduate student noted in tribute: “Lori was the most exemplary human being I met at U of O, and it wasn't particularly close.” We miss you, Lori!
