CAS Awards Around Campus

Lynn Stephen, professor in the College of Arts and Sciences, Department of Anthropology, has been named an external fellow at the Stanford Humanities Center. Selected from more than 325 applicants, Stephen will complete a book on transborder Mesoamerican Indigenous territories.
Ellen Eischen, professor in the College of Arts and Sciences, Department of Mathematics, has been named a 2025 Fellow of the American Mathematical Society. Each year, the AMS honors members who have “made outstanding contributions to the creation, exposition, advancement, communication, and utilization of mathematics."
Laura Pulido, professor in the College of Arts and Sciences, Department of Indigenous, Race, and Ethnic Studies and the Department of Geography, has been elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, one of the nation’s oldest and most prestigious honorary societies.

CAS Celebrates Excellence in 2nd Annual Ceremony

The College of Arts and Sciences held its 2nd annual College of Arts and Sciences Awards and Hallmark Achievement Reception. The ceremony spotlighted some faculty members for their prestigious awards from outside the University of Oregon and for faculty, staff, and students from CAS.

CAS Faculty Among Oregon Humanities Center's Fellow

Through fellowships, the Oregon Humanities Center at the University of Oregon works to promote innovative humanities research produced by faculty members at the UO. The fellowships are for tenure-track faculty and are awarded on an annual basis. The 2025-26 fellows include CAS faculty members in the Divisions of Humanities and Social Sciences.

OVPRI's Outstanding Career Award

Carlos Aguirre, a College of Arts and Sciences professor of history and Latin American studies, received the Outstanding Career Award from the Office of the Vice President for Research and Innovation's 2024 Outstanding Research Awards. It is the University of Oregon's highest award for tenure-track faculty. Aguirre's research focuses on the history of slavery and abolition, crime and punishment, political imprisonment, intellectuals, print culture, and archives.In addition to Aguirre's award, two other faculty members received awards: Assistant Professor Gabriel Sanchez (Advancing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in Research) and Melissa Graboyes (Innovation and Impact Award).
