The University of Oregon offers six different scholarships for outstanding students interested in a health profession. Please review the scholarship descriptions, eligibility criteria, and application steps below.
Scholarships: Before You Apply
Financial Need: Some scholarships require proof of financial need. If you feel you qualify, please complete one of the following forms to verify your need level (March 1 priority deadline to be eligible for many university scholarships).
- The “FAFSA” (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is an online application for students who are US citizens, Legal Permanent Residents (LPRs) or other eligible non-citizens.
- The “ORSAA” (Oregon Student Aid Application) is an alternative to the FAFSA for Dreamer students including students who have Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) status or Temporary Protected Status (TPS) as well as other undocumented students.
- The “Statement of Financial Need” is for international students with a valid student visa. This form must be submitted directly to International Student & Scholar Services.
Pre-Health Scholarships
Margaret J. Wiese Fund (Pre-Health)
Selection criteria: Holistic review of academic record and financial need.
Eligibility criteria: Graduated from an Oregon high school. Students must have 90 credits or more (junior, senior, post-baccalaureate, or graduate student) by Fall 2025.
John Jay & Corabelle Rogers Memorial Scholarship (Pre-Med)
Selection criteria: Holistic review of academic record, extracurricular involvement, and financial need (based on FAFSA).
Eligibility criteria: Students must have 90 credits or more (junior, senior, or post-baccalaureate student) by Fall 2025 and have a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA.
John Fielding Ambrose Medical Scholarship (Pre-Med)
Selection criteria: Holistic review of academic record and extracurricular involvement.
Eligibility criteria: Students must have 90 credits or more (junior, senior, or post-baccalaureate student) by Fall 2025 and have a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA.
Minnie Morden Scholarship (Pre-Med)
Selection criteria: Holistic review of academic record only.
Eligibility criteria: Students must have 90 credits or more (junior, senior, or post-baccalaureate student) by Fall 2025 and have a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA.
William and Marjorie Shearon Memorial Scholarship (Pre-Med)
Selection criteria: Holistic review of academic record and extracurricular involvement.
Eligibility criteria: Students must have 90 credits or more (junior, senior, or post-baccalaureate student) by Fall 2025 and have a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA.
Bleakney Scholarship (Pre-Dental)
Selection criteria: Holistic review of academic record and demonstrates clear commitment to the field of dentistry.
Eligibility criteria: Students must have 90 credits or more (junior, senior, or post-baccalaureate student) by Fall 2025 and have a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA.
Application Instructions
Applications for all pre-health scholarships are available on the UO Scholarship Dashboard starting October 23rd, 2024. After setting up your profile you will be able to access opportunities that you may qualify for.
- Please submit an transcript that includes your winter 2025 final grades.
- Be sure to include a transcript for ALL colleges you have credit at.
- Incoming Transfer, Post Baccalaureate, and Graduate students must apply for UO Admissions by March 15, 2025.
Scholarship Deadline: April 1st, 2025.
