Navigating Petitions
University of Oregon has several petition processes and committees, and the one you should pursue depends on the type and timing of your request. The four main petitions are:
Scholastic Review Committee (SRC) petitions
Advising Appointment required to receive petition for:
- Academic reinstatement after being disqualified
- Cancellation of academic disqualification
- Withdrawing or changing grade option for course(s) in a previous term
Academic Requirements Committee (ARC) petitions:
- Exceptions for a core education requirement (most appropriate for seniors, sometimes juniors)
Office of the Registrar petitions
- Tuition refund
- Repeating a course
- Late add/withdraw from a course in the current term (weeks 1-10)
- Time conflict between courses
Departmental petitions
Processes vary by department. It's recommended you check in with an advisor first about navigating the process
- Exceptions for a major/minor requirement
- Exceptions for a course prerequisite
- Re-evaluating transfer coursework
