Interests: Japanese Animation, Film, and Literature
John D. Moore is an M.A. student in modern Japanese literature and film. He received his B.A. in Asian Studies and Japanese Language and Literature from the University of Utah in 2014.
His research interests primarily focus on the genre of mecha television anime in the 1970s and 1980s, and particularly on the series Mobile Suit Gundam. More broadly, he is interested in how popular culture texts—including anime, manga, video games, and popular fiction—react to and take part in contemporary political and social discourse.
In his free time, he likes to develop video games, make videos, and watch films.
