FAQ for CAS Commencement

 

What is the schedule for the 2023 CAS commencement ceremonies?

The College will hold four undergraduate ceremonies that will be grouped by academic division and school, and one ceremony to confer master's and doctoral degrees. Please see the Ceremonies section for details about each ceremony.   

 

When do I apply for my degree?   

You can apply for graduation on DuckWeb for undergraduate students, and GradWeb for graduate students. For spring term, undergraduate student applications are due by April 30, 2023; graduate student applications are due by April 14, 2023. 

 

Can I participate in a graduation ceremony, i.e., “walk across the stage,” if I’m graduating in a future term?  

You can walk if you are graduating in summer or fall 2023, or if you have 12 or fewer credits to complete before graduating. 

 

I am a master's or PhD graduate; do I walk in a divisional ceremony? 

MA and PhD candidates should walk in the MA and PhD ceremony. The divisional ceremonies will be targeted toward undergraduate students.  

 

How do I RSVP for CAS Commencement Ceremonies?

When is the RSVP deadline for the CAS commencement ceremonies? 

The deadline to RSVP for a CAS commencement ceremony is May 31st. 

 

When will I receive an email with a RSVP link? 

If you are a graduate student, you can RSVP directly. If you are an undergraduate student and you haven’t received a message yet, don't worry - it should arrive by the end of May. Check your junk mail for a message from Marching Order. Please email cascommencement@uoregon.edu after May 26 if you still have not received your link. 

 

I am part of and would like to attend multiple CAS ceremonies. What should I do if I am not present one hour early to check in? 

We encourage graduates to attend one ceremony to ensure they have enough time to check in and receive their name card. Please contact us if you have any questions or concerns at cascommencement@uoregon.edu

 

How do I RSVP for the main ceremony? 

If you would like to participate in the main commencement ceremony please RSVP here and visit the main UO Commencement site for more information. Please note that the main Ceremony and the CAS Ceremonies are separate, and you must RSVP to each that you plan to attend. 

 

When do I receive my diploma? 

You will receive your diploma by mail approximately 4-6 weeks after the commencement ceremony. 

 

Do I need regalia to participate in the ceremony? 

Yes, all graduates that plan to walk will need regalia; you may order your regalia directly from The Duck Store

 

Do I need to participate in the ceremony to get my Degree? 

No, in order to get your physical degree mailed to you, you just need to declare your intent to graduate through the UO Registrar’s office

 

Is there ADA seating available? 

Yes, but space is limited, so plan to arrive early. Please be advised that not all ADA seating will be shaded, so bring sun protection. For Autzen ceremonies, please enter through the south gate where you will find an elevator and ADA seating. 

 

How do I request ADA seating? 

The best way to request ADA seats for CAS Ceremonies is in your RSVP form. It will ask you for the number of people as well as about specific needs for those individuals. Best efforts will be made to accommodate all individuals and needs, but space is not guaranteed, so arrive early. 

Are tickets required for guests? 

No, tickets will not be required for guests.
