Dr. O’Nell has been an emeritus associate professor at UO since 2015. Theresa O’Nell is a medical and psychological anthropologist who has worked with Native American peoples for over fifteen years. Her findings on culture and depression among the Flathead people of Montana appear in her book Disciplined Hearts: History, Identity, and Depression in an American Community (U of California Press 1996). Dr. O’Nell’s teaching and research interests include medical anthropology, postcolonial psychology, and contemporary Native American life.
