Biography

Phil is a California native transplanted to Oregon who enjoys the great Northwest. In addition to academic teaching, he is a senior software engineer, architect, and consultant with decades of experience. Phil specializes in web, application, and database development in healthcare, environmental and air quality, and public health. 

Education

Teaching

Phil is a Senior Instructor and Director of the CIT Minor in the Department of Computer and Information Science at the University of Oregon. Phil's teaching focus centers on preparing students to work with evolving technologies for work environments that require development and management of business databases, computer networks and information security, web applications, and software systems.
 
Phil also taught at Lane Community College, Southwestern Community College, CSU Chico, Butte College, and American River College. In addition to academic and professional teaching, Phil taught fencing for many years.
 
Phil authored four C# certificate courses for the O'Reilly School of Technology.
