Lizzy Knight grew up around Boston Massachusetts and attended Reed College where she studied Chemistry. During this time she had the opportunity to explore computational modeling and worked on optimizing an organometallic complex involved in a protonolysis reaction for her senior thesis. After graduating Lizzy returned to Massachusetts to teach high school chemistry where she developed an interest in earth sciences while writing and teaching an Environmental Chemistry course! She is working with Paul Wallace studying hydrogen diffusion from quartz crystals to determine eruption timescales. Some of Lizzy’s favorite outdoor activities include rock climbing and hiking.
