My research focuses primarily on Nineteenth-Century juvenile crime and justice. My thesis focuses specifically on the creation of Houses of Refuge across the United States. Currently, I am exploring the first of these schools, the New York House of Refuge and the violence perpetuated inside the House during its century of operation.
