Faculty members in the College of Arts and Sciences were among the 15 University of Oregon scholars to receive award money from the Faculty Research Awards, provided by the Office of the Vice President for Research and Innovation.

HISTORY, WOMEN'S, GENDER & SEXUALITY STUDIES - Princeton historian Margot Canaday will give the Wayne Morse Center for Law and Politics’ annual Margaret Hallock Lecture on Feb. 16. The talk will focus on her new book, “Queer Career: Sexuality and Work in Modern America,” which explores the experiences of sexual minorities in the American workforce during the second half of the 20th century.

The University of Oregon continued its multiyear streak of increasing grant funding in fiscal year 2021-22 (FY22). Numerous faculty members received recognition for their contributions to research, as well as the number of research awards with direct positive effects on local and regional communities.

WOMEN'S, GENDER AND SEXUALITY STUDIES- Ana-Maurine Lara, associate professor of Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies at the University of Oregon, has been invited to the Scholarly Advisory Committee of the Smithsonian Museum of the American Latino.

PHYSICS, WOMEN'S, GENDER AND SEXUALITY STUDIES - Five UO researchers-scholars and two research teams that have made significant impacts on society and on their respective fields will receive 2021 Outstanding Research Awards.

ANTHROPOLOGY, INDIGENOUS, RACE, AND ETHNIC STUDIES, WOMEN'S, GENDER AND SEXUALITY STUDIES - Caribbean Women Healers is a University of Oregon digital humanities project featuring elders who currently live and work in Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, and the US Pacific Northwest.

The Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art will livestream the premiere of “Sanctuary: A Performance,” an artist collaboration exploring the collective experience of women and queer people of color seeking refuge from persecution under the ongoing violence of colonization.

Twelve UO researchers and scholars pursuing research on subjects ranging from rock and roll music to data science to COVID-19 have received 2021 Faculty Research Awards, which support scholarship, creative projects and quantitative or qualitative research from all disciplinary backgrounds.
