First-year doctoral student from Houston, TX. Alanna obtained her B.S. in Anthropology from Texas State University, Spring 2025, and has three years of experience working full-time in the National Guard as a medic. She is interested in exploring how obesity dysregulates metabolic function and how physical activity mitigates the damage. Her research will focus on the Shuar, an indigenous population in Ecuador, who are undergoing market integration when rates of obesity and metabolic syndrome are expected to rise.
