Education

Alethea Steingisser is the cartographic production manager in the InfoGraphics Lab in the Department of Geography at the University of Oregon where she has worked since 2005. She serves as lead cartographic designer and production manager on a variety of projects including two editions of The Atlas of Yellowstone (2012 and 2022), Wild Migrations: Atlas of Wyoming’s Ungulates (2018), The Atlas of Yellowstone (2012), and Archaeology and Landscape in the Mongolian Altai: An Atlas (2010). She contributes to a majority of the diverse mapping efforts in the InfoGraphics Lab including the digital GIUM Atlas of Ungulate Migration,  tsunami evacuation mapping for Oregon’s Department of Geology and Mines, bicycle route maps for Oregon State Parks, and much more. 

Alethea's background in art and photography combined with her interest in earth sciences led her to cartography at California State University, Northridge where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Geography in 2001.  She followed up with a Master of Science in Geography in 2006 at the University of Oregon.
