Statement

Bassem earned his Ph.D. in Modern Hebrew Literature from Alexandria University in 2013. He also received his Master's degree in Modern Hebrew language and Literature from The Institute of Oriental Languages At Alexandria University in 2008, and got his Bachelor of Arts, from the Department of Arabic Language and Literature & Oriental Languages and Literature in 2005. He taught Modern Hebrew at Alexandria University. He also taught Modern Hebrew and Standard Arabic at UNC at Chapel Hill.

His literary research analyzes various aspects of Israeli culture and Hebrew literature, and his comparative linguistic research shows the close ties between Hebrew, Arabic, and Syriac, especially in phonetics and syntax.
