Research

Miguel Antonio Guevara is a Venezuelan thinker and writer who studies the social construction of subjectivity in Latin America in diverse cultural objects of the 20th and 21st centuries (concepts, books, events, photographs, digitality, among others), from a perspective of cultural criticism that brings into dialogue his training in sociology, Latin American philosophy and creative writing. He is the author of the book "It's a Selfie World. Notes on Transmedia Culture" in which he studies the social construction of digital subjectivity in social networks and other transmedia discourses, this book was awarded the VIII Mariano Picón Salas International Essay Prize awarded by the Rómulo Gallegos Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies, CELARG. He has also developed research in the area of Latin American thought, specifically the recovery of the discurso salvaje, a proposal of the philosopher of identity and language José Manuel Briceño Guerrero that can be found in the article "El Pensar Salvaje, un diálogo sobre la subjetividad latinoamericana" in which he updates this philosopher by putting him in dialogue with the Latin American decolonial perspective. He also has an important side of production in creative writing and other artistic media that encompasses the genres of poetry, essay, narrative, and collage, for which he has received various awards and recognitions. Additionally, he has developed a career and research in the editorial area at the publishing houses Monte Ávila Editores Latinoamericana, El perro y la rana, and in the MenteKupa magazine of criticism and creation and the literary project La Ninfa Eco LTD. Currently, he is in search of new methodological coordinates with the aim of integrating his previous discoveries in a perspective that will allow him to conduct a study on subjectivity in a much broader way. Specifically, he seeks to incorporate poetic, philosophical, and critical notions that will allow him to construct a critical discourse from Latin America on technological rationality and the type of subjectivity it produces. This implies the inclusion of a constellation of categories/concepts such as archive, ruin, extractivism, futurity, capitalocene, digitality, sediment, simultaneity, disappointment, nostalgia, diachrony, brownness, energy humanities, among others.
