Kelsi’s research is focused on understanding how adverse life experiences become embodied within the skeleton, from a biocultural anthropology and life history perspective. Alongside Kelsi's personal research, they are working with the University of Oregon Biomarker Cluster, a group of three interdisciplinary labs specializing in minimally-invasive biomarker collection methods and analyses, to measure chronic and infectious diseases and hormonal, immune, and metabolic functioning. Previously, Kelsi completed a Master of Arts in Applied Anthropology at the University of South Florida, with a focus in Forensic and Archaeological Sciences. There they studied the application of an elemental analysis technique called Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS) within the fields of forensic anthropology and bioarchaeology, for the purpose of discriminating individuals from one another using the unique elemental profiles of their skeletons.
