Biography

Originally from Alaska, Pierce studies the history of his home state in the context of the Pacific World. With an emphasis on the post-World War II era, he focuses on the connections Alaskans and Pacific residents establish with each other through immigration, tourism, trade, cultural institutions, and aviation. He is especially interested in how these connections fueled the development of Anchorage, Alaska’s largest city.
