CREATIVE WRITING, PHILOSOPHY - Two professors — Garrett Hongo and Colin Koopman — have been named 2023 Presidential Fellows in Arts and Humanities. They'll use the funding to work on book projects.

HISTORY - Assistant Professor Steven Beda recently won two awards for his debut book on timber workers in the Pacific Northwest. The book, titled Strong Winds and Widow Makers: Workers, Nature and Environmental Conflict in Pacific Northwest Timber Country, is the winner of the Philip Taft Labor History Book Prize from Cornell University and is a co-winner of the Pacific Coast Branch Book Award.
For the winter term, 4,556 University of Oregon students made the Dean' List. To qualify, a student must be an admitted undergraduate and complete at least 12 credits with a letter grade and with a grade-point average of at least 3.75.
NEUROSCIENCE, CHEMISTRY, GLOBAL HEALTH - Third-year Clark Honors College undergraduate student Nayantara Arora was recently awarded a $5,000 Key into Public Service Scholarship from Phi Beta Kappa.
MATHEMATICS, PHILOSOPHY, SOCIOLOGY - Three University of Oregon professors in the College of Arts and Sciences have received teaching awards for their excellence in the classroom. The annual Tykeson Teaching Awards are presented to one faculty member in each division of the UO’s largest college: the humanities, social sciences and natural sciences.
PSYCHOLOGY- Alexa Wright, a psychology major in the College of Arts and Sciences, is one of two University of Oregon students awarded the Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship, a prized national award for research in the natural sciences, engineering and mathematics.
BIOLOGY, ENVIRONMENTAL STUDIES, DATA SCIENCE - University of Oregon ecologist Lauren Ponisio has been awarded a fellowship from the Ecological Society of America for research and outreach that has proven her an exceptional leader.
GLOBAL STUDIES, POLITICAL SCIENCE, RUSSIAN, EAST EUROPEAN AND EURASIAN STUDIES - Junior Luda Isakharov is just the third Duck to receive the prized scholarship.
